The inception of the department was in the year 2002.The department has produced 20 ranks in Mahatma Gandhi University so far.

The Biotechnology programme at St.Mary’s college is crafted to build up a thorough knowledge on different sectors of life by integrating the concept of molecular biology, Tissue culture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics , Genetic engineering and other deciplines of life sciences. This is technology based on biology especially used in agriculture, food science & medicines. Our department has both undergraduate(B.sc) & postgraduate(M.sc) programmes.
