St.Mary’s College for Women is the prestigious outcome of a vision realised by its founder and promoter Late Dr.P.T Abraham (Sri.Baby Mulamootil). The St. Mary’s Educational & Cultural Society,Thiruvalla got registered under The Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific & Charitable Societies, Regn.Act XII of 1955 in the year 1974. It owns 12 distinguished Educational Institutions in Kerala and Karnataka.It has got a remarkable history of academic excellence, students discipline, commendable quality developed by hardworking, dedicated and well experienced professionals and achievers who are the former students of these institutions and they cherish the memories of a well-disciplined academic atmosphere that they enjoyed in St.Mary’s Group of institutions.

The College is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam vide U.O. No.AC. AVII/1/1072/02 dated 20-12-2002. It conducts various Graduate and Postgraduate courses that open up new vistas of higher education and provide immense job opportunities. Since its inauguration on 09th Dec.2002, the College has made remarkable imprints in academic excellence, discipline and co-curricular achievements. It functions under the supervision of an Advisory Board which comprises eminent educationalists from various disciplines and retired principals.

The college has been declared as Minority Educational Institution covered under section 2(g) of The National Commission For Minority Eductional Institutions Act,2004(File No.517 of2012) on 3rd day of May 2012.The quality and academic excellence of the college is the direct outcome of the enthusiasm, creativity and dedication of its lecturers and the rich experience of its professors. Well- stocked library, laboratories with state –of –the art facilities and sophisticated equipment enable the students to get maximum practical experience in the fields of Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry,Food Science,Computer Science and Commerce.
